Bug List 2A

Bug List
1.     When I get home from a long day from being out all day and my mom asks me 15 questions about anything and everything.
·      My mom is a very curious person and cares about my day and wants to hear more about it because she is interested.
2.     When people who are 20 years old and still not independent and have to rely on their parents for everything.
·      Not everyone was raised the same way, so what may be a simple task for myself, may be difficult for others because they were never taught how to do it.
3.     When you are out to dinner with friends, and they answer a facetime call or phone call while sitting across from you at dinner.
·      Some people grew up their whole life thinking that it was not rude and was not a big deal for them to answer a phone call. Every household is different.
4.     When people are health nuts and refuse to eat at restaurants that aren’t considered “clean” or “healthy” and say that there is nothing on the menu that they can eat when they can get a salad.
·      This bug exists because some people are stubborn and will not change their ways and truly believe that they have to eat this way to feel good about themselves.
5.     When you make a plan with a friend and pick the exact day in advance, and then they cancel the day of.
·      This bug exists because life happens and sometimes things really do come up and they have to cancel a plan for something that is more important than just hanging out.
6.     When I lose my lip balm ALL the time in my room and can never remember where I put it last.
·      This exists because my lip balm is tiny, and my room is big, so I am bound to lose it in my mess of a room.
7.     When my parents make me clean up from dinner and there is ketchup or tomato sauce on the dirty plate that I now have to wash.
·      This bug exists because these are things that I don’t eat, and the rest of my family does. I cannot control what they eat or put on their plates.
8.     At restaurants, when I never ask for parmesan cheese on top and they put it on top anyway and when was never written or mentioned that it came with parmesan cheese on top.
·      This bug exists because restaurants and chefs assume that all people love parmesan cheese, so it is not a big deal to just put it on top without asking people.
9.     When I pull up to Carvel and the lights are still on, but they say that they are closed, and you cannot come in when they technically still are not closed yet.
·      This bug exists because I can control what time I go to carvel and it can be avoided easily if I just went earlier in the night.
10.  When I go skiing and have a plan to leave at 5:00 am and instead leave at 8:30 am and get to the mountain 2.5 hours late.
·      This bug exists because not everyone is respectful of other people’s time. If a person doesn’t care to be late then it will never change.
11.  When I drop my towel on the floor in the shower and get it soaking wet.
·      This bug exists because mistakes happen, and the shower area may be small and tight and dropping the towel happens.
12.  When my laptop keeps asking me if I want to give it a software update, because every single time I just click remind me tomorrow.
·      This bug exists because apple wants everyone to have the most recent software updates so that their devices run smoothly and function properly.
13.  When my mom and dad constantly remind me of things that I need to do, that I chose to procrastinate and put off.
·      This bug exists because they care about me and want to ensure that I take care of important tasks in a timely manner before it is too late.
14.  When my Starbucks drink is not good and is too bitter that day.
·      This bug exists because the barista may not be as experienced, or I ordered something for the first time and did not expect it to taste like that.
15.  When I lose wifi in the study abroad St. Johns University Rome building while watching the bachelor.
·      This bug exists because in Europe, the wifi is not as good as in America. The set up and towers are not as good in this area which causes me to lose wifi easily.
16.  When I am in the car with my whole family, so I am sitting in the back and I start talking and my parents “can’t hear me” so they press the volume button and shut the music off entirely instead of just lowering it a little bit.
·      This bug exists because they may have grown up where music was not constantly playing in the car during a car ride. This causes them to not think that it is a big deal to have the music off for a little bit.
17.  When I am in the car with my brother and he’s scrolling though Instagram or snapchat and one of his videos starts playing randomly REALLY loud and my dad says to lower it and he says ok but just clicks off the video until another video starts playing really loud yet again.
·      This bug exists because in an enclosed car with more than 1 person in the car you can’t control what other people do. What bothers me may not bother everyone else. My brother probably doesn’t think that the sound is annoying.
18.  At night, when the Starbucks on Hempstead Turnpike has no parking spots and I went 15 minutes out of my way to drive there to do work and then I need to pick another Starbucks to drive to.
·      This bug exists because the parking lot does not have an infinite amount of parking spots and it is a popular place for people to come and do work.
19.  When people get stressed out about plane rides and airports and have to be at the airport 3 hours early to sit at the gate for no reason.
·      This bug exists because they probably grew up always going early if their parents like doing that. To them, it is not annoying to be there for a long time, and it is just something that they do.
20.  When I miss my connecting flight from Charlotte to Gainesville and my dad always says told you so and to book direct flights instead of connecting flights.
·      This bug exists because I cannot control if my first flight takes off on time or not. It is out of my control. I can schedule a flight with a longer layover so that this problem can be more avoided.
Reflection
After I wrote down a list 20 things that bug me, I felt a lot better. It felt nice to write down all of my thoughts that have been bugging me for so long. Before I started this assignment, I thought it would be extremely difficult for me to come up with 20 different things. Once I started writing, I concluded that it was not difficult for me at all. Every day, everyone encounters many things that could bother them. It is sometimes the smallest things that can make people angry or irritated. What I found most difficult was explaining why this bug exists. I gathered that when I was frustrated with a person or what a person does, it was more difficult to explain why this bug exists. When dealing with objects, things or places it was easier to conclude why this bug exists. This assignment really gave me the chance to sit down and truly think about my everyday life and how I can maybe fix these things that bug me.

  1. Hey Rachel! I agree that this assignment brought perspective to our lives. The point you made that resonated with me the most was in your reflection when you said it is the smallest things that can irritate people. This made me review my bug list, and I feel this is especially true in scenarios like watching TV ads or experiencing traffic. Overall, great post!
